V&A Waterfront Marina, Cape Town
A twenty-year-old marina apartment, fully reimagined. The brief was clear: luxurious but practical — a space that could serve equally as a private residence or a premium letting property.
The entire apartment was stripped back and rebuilt from scratch, with every finish, fitting and furnishing chosen to work in harmony. A palette of warm neutrals — cream, taupe, sandy linen — runs throughout, anchored by brass hardware and natural timber joinery. The kitchen island is a statement in itself: a waterfall of veined marble beneath a sinuous wave-form LED light fixture, with glass-fronted cabinetry glowing amber above. In the main bedroom, a full wall of grasscloth wallpaper sets a serene, textural backdrop for the arched backlit mirror.
The bathrooms are hotel-calibre: a freestanding oval bath against large-format stone-look tiles, a marble-clad shower, brass fittings throughout. On the terrace, a glass dining table looks directly over the marina — a view that sells Cape Town to international guests before a word is spoken.
The apartment now operates as a luxury short-term rental, achieving consistently strong ratings: beautiful enough to impress, considered enough to last.
