A large apartment perched above the Atlantic with sweeping ocean views, this Bakoven property serves a dual purpose: a private retreat for its owners and a high-performing asset in the luxury short-term rental market. The brief was to honour both — creating a space that felt genuinely at home on the African coastline while meeting the expectations of the most discerning international guests.

The approach was restraint and intention. Hard finishes were transformed throughout: new flooring, tinted cement plaster walls, custom joinery, and carefully layered lighting shift the mood from ordinary to considered. Bespoke soft furnishings were designed for the space, and a live edge French oak mantelpiece — made by local craftsmen — anchors the living area with a piece that is simultaneously organic and architectural. The result is a home that feels rooted in its setting: beachfront, African, and quietly luxurious.
